![]() ![]() ![]() His "gift" to Zant would allow the Usurper King to do the same during his trip to the Arbiter's Grounds, and this necromantic skill would be plenty useful to give the Poes he left in Earth Temple a bit of backup during the events of Wind Waker. This makes him quite a force to be reckoned with, but why stop there if he doesn't have to? There's an abundance of corpses in the town square and if he can turn them into create more loyal footsoldiers there's little reason not to. Reasoning: Ganondorf the man is able to summon unslain demons, resurrect a dead dragon and kill sages. Additionally, ReDead (referenced as lurkers in the dark) are used by the Royal Family to deter graverobbers. This serves two purposes it gives the Sheikah a greater understanding of the evil magic they need to protect the Royal Family from and it allows them to ensure a large number of demons are locked away and inaccessible for anyone who may want to use them for evil purposes. Given their association with Shadow (and by extension, darkness) I would fully expect Sheikah to practice restoring demons into flesh clay and sealing them away. Reasoning: One of the most common places to find ReDead outside of places Ganondorf has been are out-of-the-way, sealed off locations that are connected to the Sheikah. ![]() Shadow Temple (could be either Sheikah OR Ganondorf) To further support my theory, I'll outline the places ReDead can be found throughout the series and why I believe undead demons would roam there. But that's not going to stop him from having an undead demon army, no sirree!įor these reasons, I believe ReDead to be a novice necromancer's attempt at giving the aimless spirits of "dead" monsters a flesh clay body to inhabit so they can interact with the world of light again. Resurrecting a dead dragon and weaponizing dark (purple) magic, sure, but not creating actual matter from nothing. I don't think the man Ganondorf, for all his power, has ever been shown to be able to create flesh-and-bone from nothing. I don't think you'd disagree that Calamity Ganon is the most powerful incarnation of Ganon (without the Triforce) we've seen thus far, which is what I think allows him to pull off such a feat. With that in mind, it's damn impressive that they're regaining flesh-and-bone bodies from nothing, which I believe to be a testament to Calamity Ganon's incredible power under the Blood Moon. While we've seen demons (monsters) summoned to fight us before, this is the first time that the demons we're fighting are confirmed to have already been slain, as opposed to simply being fresh demons. "By its glow, the aimless spirits of monsters slain in the name of light return to flesh." -Princess Zelda I begin with a video regarding Breath of the Wild's Blood Moon. Credit to /u/luckjes112 and /u/henryuuk.ĮDIT II: Included the disclaimer about Calamity Ganon not having the Triforce's power and added to the reasoning for ReDead in Sheikah territories. EDIT: ReDead are made of clay and not flesh. ![]()
